Transport Manager / Transport Planner (CPC Qualified)

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Transport Manager / Planner to join their operation based on the outskirts of Norwich.
This is a key appointment within a busy transport environment, suited to a hands-on professional who can balance strategic oversight with day-to-day planning responsibilities.
Position Overview
This role will take ownership of transport coordination and compliance, ensuring the smooth running of fleet operations while maintaining full adherence to UK transport legislation. The successful candidate will play a central role in optimising routes, managing drivers and ensuring operational performance targets are achieved.
Core Duties & Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate daily vehicle movements to maximise efficiency and service levels

Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence undertakings and legal obligations

Oversee driver scheduling, holiday planning and resource allocation

Monitor driver hours, tachograph records and Working Time Directive compliance

Manage vehicle roadworthiness, servicing schedules and defect procedures

Act as the main point of contact for transport-related queries internally and externally

Investigate incidents, infringements and non-compliance matters

Analyse performance data and implement improvements to reduce costs and increase productivity

Supervise and support drivers, conducting reviews and providing guidance where needed

Maintain accurate records in line with regulatory requirements

Contribute to budgeting, cost control and fuel performance monitoring

Candidate Profile

Valid Transport Manager CPC (essential)

About the Role
Our client is a well-established Fire & Security Specialist based in Peterborough, providing tailored protection services across commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, retail, leisure and public sector sectors. They require engineers to deliver high-quality installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of fire and security systems to their clients across the East of England.
What You’ll Do
As a Fire & Security Alarm Engineer, you will:
- Install, service and maintain fire alarm systems (conventional & addressable)
- Work with intruder alarms, access control, CCTV and related security systems
- Conduct fault diagnosis, repairs and scheduled servicing visits
- Produce high-quality reports, certification and documentation for clients
- Ensure compliance with current industry standards and legislation
- Provide excellent customer service on site
You’ll work across a range of sectors — from commercial and industrial to education and retail — adapting solutions to each customer’s needs.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in fire and/or security systems engineering
- Strong technical knowledge of fire alarms, security systems, CCTV and access control
- Experience with industry standards (e.g., BS5839 or relevant security standards)
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving ability
- Full UK driving licence
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
Desirable:
- FIA or equivalent industry qualifications
- Manufacturer-specific fire or security system training
- ECS/CSCS or related credentials
